RECOGNITION
At the 2019 American Cancer Society's Celebration of Hope, at The Asbury Hotel in Asbury, NJ, the Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School Student Movement Against Cancer received an award for being the 10th top fundraising high school event in the nation. The Relay for Life of Scotch Plains ranked 10 out of 84 schools nationwide. (ACS Rep Liz, Advisor Ms. Boyce and the 2019-2020 Executive board pictured to the left.
Scotch Plains Mayor, Al Smith, attended the 2019 Relay for Life event at SPFHS. Mayor Smith was a participant of the event and was kind enough to share his experience with cancer with us. Along with Mayor Al Smith, reporters from the Tap Into came to experience our Relay event and took photos of our high school, middle school and community Relay participants. Thanks to Noelle Rose Ciumei Productions, we had our 2019 award winning Relay for Life caught on video. Due to possible inclement weather our 2019 event was held indoors in the SPFHS gymnasiums. (Relay for Life of SP video pictured to the left).
The 2019 Relay for Life teams won the Central NJ "Arch Madness" competition for the most fundraised over the month of March. The Student Movement Against Cancer decided to choose an inflatable screen for our luminaria ceremony and for late night movies. (Luminaria ceremony pictured to the right.
Relay for Life of Scotch Plains ranked 11th in the nation for the American Cancer Society's Fund the Mission Challenge. Fund The Mission challenge is a 72 hour fundraising challenge for all Relay for Life teams. (Pictured to left).
At the 2018 American Cancer Society's Celebration of Hope, at The Asbury Hotel in Asbury Park, NJ, the Student Movement Against Cancer received two awards for their Relay for Life of Scotch Plains event. They received an award for being the 12th top fundraising high school events in the nation.
